L to R: Sisters in Crime members Susannah Hardy, Kathryn Orzech, me and Levi E. Coe library director Loren Webber, Adult Services coordinator Susan Mizla and children’s services librarian Vicki Berry
A couple of writer pals and I felt like Oprah for a morning. We helped a local library celebrate winning a $1,000 grant from Sisters in Crime.
The Levi E. Coe Library of Middlefield, CT, won a monthly drawing Sisters in Crime holds as part of its “We Love Libraries” program.
Although Sisters in Crime remains faithful to its original mission of getting more reviews for female mystery writers, the organization has branched out to educate and support mystery writers. Plus, it’s not just for “sisters,” but “misters” enjoy the perks of membership, too.
Joining me is:
Susannah Hardy joined us even though she was up against a tight deadline for an installment in the upcoming Georgie’s Kitchen Mysteries. The first book in the series, Feta Attraction, will be released by Berkley Prime Crime in early 2015.
Kathryn Orzech used her media savvy to write us a press release that attracted the attention of The Town Times and The Middletown Press. She also wrote a post for the Sisters in Crime New England chapter blog “Pen, Ink and Crimes.” Kathy is the author of Premonition of Terror, a psychic thriller. Her suspense family saga, Asylum, will launch this spring.
My husband “MacGuyver” pitched in to make the presentation check. He and Kathy consulted back and forth on the design. Then, he worked his magic with Excel.
Kathy, Susannah and I are also members of the New England chapter of Sisters in Crime and Connecticut Romance Writers Association.
